Moses Simon has said it was a dream come true after becoming only the fourth player in the history of the Super Eagles to reach 100 international caps.
The 31-year-old forward, who began his international career in 2013, was celebrated by the Nigeria Football Federation on Sunday, with a presentation planned for the next matchday at the Uyo-based home of the national team.
A career of distinction
Simon has been a mainstay of the Super Eagles across three different coaches, featuring at AFCON 2019 in Egypt, the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 AFCON in the Ivory Coast.
To be one of only four Nigerians to wear the cap 100 times is special. I am grateful to the coaches, my teammates and the fans who have stood by me.
Only Jay-Jay Okocha, Ahmed Musa and Asisat Oshoala had reached the milestone before him.
What is next
Simon has yet to confirm whether the 2027 AFCON qualifiers will be his final campaign, but he insists he is still fit and hungry for more caps.
Eighty-eight and counting. Super Eagles forever!
Incredible dedication. Congratulations on 100 caps.
